Jane Delve
Jane has created paintings and drawings her entire life, and even now in her mature years, she feels unable to go two minutes without creating something, unable to stop herself!
Children’s picture books are where her heart lies, as she aims to create tools that can be used for good. She has written and illustrated two books: one addressing loneliness in the elderly and the other aimed at children who struggle with a chronic illness. She plans to revisit both books to complete and perfect the projects. With many other ideas constantly on her mind, she considers it a privilege to create, and having a pen in her hand is her happy place.
As her art style has evolved, she finds herself using more digital tools, often starting traditionally before moving to Procreate. Along with 2D images, she also likes to incorporate 3D items using different mediums such as polymer clay, needle felting, and sewing.
Richard Scarry and Heath Robinson were a joy to her as a child, followed by Axel Scheffler, Levi Pinfold, and Oliver Jeffers. Even as an adult, when reading to her children, she finds great joy in beautifully illustrated books. Aardman Animation has also had a significant influence, particularly the creativity and humor of Wallace and Gromit. She likes to think her art is bright and happy, bringing humor even when tackling serious subjects.
